Legacy
In ten years I'll be thirty
I walk along the shore
Still got at least two dozen
So I'll wait a dozen more
I'm soon to come on eighty
Yet many debts aren't paid
I spent all my time waiting
My legacy will fade
A child has picked my book up
He shows it to a friend
The writers name he looks up
My tale it shan't yet end
He's happy but he must grow up
He gives it to his child
She laughs and then she turns her nose up
To all my works compiled
The world has yet continued to grow
My life has little mark
I did not have enough to show
I fade into the dark
A thousand years or more go by
And noone knows my name
"A hopeless goal" I slowly sigh
To keep my burning flame
In darkest night the sun goes out
The world is slowly dying
The people doomed they scream and shout
I hear the children crying
And all the while I rest up high
Content with what I'd done
For just a moment fleeting by
I'd shown someone the sun
